The Betfair punters are looking to land another winner

Today's most backed horse comes from Epsom, as Betfair punters have their eye firmly on a two-year-old making his nursery debut...

Tuesday's most backed horse is Star Player who runs in the 13:40 at Epsom. Simon & Ed Crisford's to-year-old has been well supported this morning, coming in from 3/1 into 9/4 and is the current joint favourite.

One of the main reasons why punters are backing Star Player may be to do with the form of the trainer, who is currently returning a 39% strike rate from 23 runners in the last 14 days.

Having finished third over today's course and distance before a repeat result at Redcar last time out, Star Player has been gelded since, and plenty of Betfair punters are expecting an improved performance this afternoon.

Star Player's main market rival is Estehwadh having won in clearcut style from the front at Ffos Las just four days ago. George Boughey's horse finished second earlier in August on the AW at Wolverhampton at 23.022/1 and it's not clear yet what kind of potential the two-year-old possesses.

Hurtle is next in the market at 4.57/2 having significantly improved on his last two outings, finishing second and third, but judging those performances, Paul & Oliver Cole's horse will need to find extra in order to challenge those at the top of the market.

Overall, Betfair punters believe there's untapped potential with Star Player and having been gelded, this may well bring about even more improvement and he can land his first victory this afternoon.
