Alan Thompson had a 17/2 winner yesterday at Goodwood, today he has two more from the Sussex track...
"That improver could well be Sir Busker for William Knight who gave weight and just failed to beat Montatham last time at York"
Sir Busker can win the Celebration Mile
The big race of the day at Goodwood is the Celebration Mile (15:35) and it should be a real cracker of a contest. Benbatl sets the standard on official ratings with a mark of 125. Even with the fact that he's giving weight to all the runners he hasn't run since the end of February and has never won with soft in the description so I'm willing to look elsewhere. Century Dream loves a bit of cut and can go very well. He was fifth in a Group 1 last time behind a good winner although I think he could be susceptible to an improver.
That improver could well be Sir Busker for William Knight who gave weight and just failed to beat Montatham last time at York. I think that horse is really good so to give him 3lb and only just fail to beat him speaks volumes. Even the third, Top Rank, is a decent colt and I think that form could well prove to be top drawer. I'm willing to take a chance on Sir Busker at around 4/1.
Subjectavist can dictate from the front
Subjectivist at 6/4 in the 15:00 Goodwood should be able to dictate this race and as such take all the beating. I think his form is better than that of Cabaletta's, with his third here in the Gordon Stakes probably being the standout piece of form. Ignore his run last time somewhat as he dwelt in the stalls for a tad too long and was always on the back foot even though he rushed through to lead that field.
Fending off challengers up that York straight is tricky especially when they come down the middle of the track and they can be challenged on both sides. Front running and dictating tactics are far easier to pull off at Goodwood especially in a small field. And that's the straightforward tactics he needs to employ today and it should prove successful.
