Miss Amulet will take some beating in the Cheveley Park
Back Miss Amulet @ 10/3 in the 14:25 Newmarket
A winner in three of her last four starts, Miss Amulet is on an upward curve and has very strong claims for Ken Condon. She won a Listed race at Naas two starts ago and then stepped up to Group 2 at York to win the Lowther Stakes impressively. She looks highly progressive and sets the clear standard on ratings. Ryan Moore takes the ride (read his column here) and she holds obvious claims of continuing her forward march in the Cheveley Park.
It's a decent renewal this and there are a coupe of obvious dangers in the field, Dandella for Karl Burke is unbeaten in three starts and was impressive when winning the Albany at Royal Ascot by six lengths! But, one I think that could make the frame at a bigger price is Alcohol Free, the filly won well on her racecourse debut at Newbury in August and then followed that up with a second to Happy Romance in a Group 3 at Salisbury. I think she could be the one to chase home Miss Amulet.
Clive Cox can take the Royal Lodge Stakes
Back Cobh @ 9/4 in the 13:50 Newmarket
Clive Cox's juvenile Cobh, has already won twice in his short three-race career and his sole defeat came to the smart Chindit in the Champagne Stakes at Ascot. Prior to that he won on debut at Haydock and was a very comfortable Listed winner at Salisbury on his latest outing. That form got a boost when the second home went out to win impressively next time out. He's totally unexposed and this progressive colt should prove difficult to beat here today.
It's only a five runner affair but they all pose a threat, the biggest danger of all however could come from Ontario, Aiden O'Brien's charge looks a typical Galileo improver and I am sure he will be the one challenging Cobh at the business end of the race.
