The further he goes the better he looks
Back Amjaady @ 7/2 in the 16:50 Lingfield
This can go the way of David O'Meara's four-year-old Amjaady, who has run well on numerous occasions in 2020, and looks to be knocking on the door. He may well be 0-11 starts on the the all-weather but he has been placed in nine of those starts and has put in several good runs in defeat on both polytack and tapeta surfaces, but this is first trip to Lingfield.
It's surely just a matter of time before he gets his head in front and this looks a good opportunity, his best efforts have come the further he's gone, staying on gamely in a pair of one mile six furlong races this term.
The two mile distance certainly looks within range and he's now fallen back onto his last winning rating of 75. With the in-form James Doyle in the plate there's a lot to like about his chances.
Gosden can have a good night at Newcastle
Back Lady Andaz @ 5/1 in the 20:10 Newcastle
John Gosden is always worth following when he sends runners to Newcastle, and I don't think tonight will be any different. I am really looking forward to seeing his two-year-old Alpha King make his course debut in the earlier novices race at 17:40 but it is his runner in the closing race of the night, Lady Andaz, that has caught my attention more.
The three-year-old filly has already shown glimpses of what she could become in her three starts thus far, but I can't help but think the best should be yet to come. She posted her best effort thus far when getting the message late at Sandown on her latest outing, when she finished behind Double or Bubble (now rated 85), who went on to win a Class 4 handicap at Ascot at the beginning of September.
Each run she has improved and today she switches to handicaps off an attractive rating of just 68. I think she is better than that and further progress is on the cards from this well bred daughter of Dark Angel.
