With the National Hunt season underway, we want to find the next 'tipstar' for Betfair. We have invited five up-and-coming writers to put their racing knowledge to the test. Here's the lowdown...
"Each week, our contenders will tip up their NAP and Next Best selections from any UK and Irish meeting on the given Saturday."
Our 'Tipstars' Battle' will begin on Saturday (October 9), running across the next four weekends before we crown our overall winner at the end of the month.
Each week, our contenders will tip up their NAP and Next Best selections from any UK and Irish meeting on the given Saturday, and we have provided them all with a total of five points to split however they wish.
The five competitors will give their reasoning for their picks in a weekly column and we'll also have an updated weekly leaderboard to see who is on top.
It's now time to meet our five racing judges.
Izzy Phillips, @TheRacingMoment
"Ever since I picked my first winner (Ballyfitz) at the Cheltenham Festival I developed my long standing love for National Hunt. Safe to say I am buzzing for the NH season to take centre stage. Over the course of this competition I'll be looking forward to seeing the return of some old names; looking out for some rising stars and hopefully finding a few good priced winners in the process!"
Michael Willoughby, @RacingWillo
"I would like to start by thanking Nathan for putting this all together. I'm very excited to be taking part in this competition with Betfair, where I can challenge myself against some of racing Twitter's leading lights. I would definitely say I'm more of a flat man and my selections will reflect that. Luckily I still have a couple of weekends left of top-class flat racing before the proper jumps action starts."
Dan Overall, @Overandclear
"My name is Dan - an Economics graduate from the University of Surrey and an avid National Hunt racing fan. I have been tipping on "Racing Twitter" for the better part of three years, while my proudest achievement in that regard has to be reaching the final of Racing TV's Tipstar competition in 2020."
"I will be focusing exclusively on the jumps while I also tend to go for horses at a decent price. Expect more E/W shots than favourites; time will tell as to whether that's a good strategy for this competition!"
Jazz Sohanta, @Inahoofbeat1
"I'm from Newmarket and horse racing has been a huge passion since a very young age. I'm lucky enough to have ridden in a few amateur races in the past, and I still ride out on the famous training grounds in the morning before my day job in business aviation."
"The flat season will come to an end soon, but there are still plenty of competitive races left, including Newmarket and York this weekend. So, I will focus on races from here and hopefully get a winner or two."
Chris Loader, @Luckyloader15
"I have been working in the racing industry for the last three years and I currently work for the Press Association. I also run my own YouTube Channel called Lucky Loaders 15 giving daily horse racing tips as well as hosting, producing and editing the In The Saddle Podcast. I love the Flat & National Hunt equally and would consider myself a jack of all racing trades."
