"On his latest start in the Grade 2 Suburban at Belmont he demolished a quality field without being seriously asked"
Nick Shiambouros returns to Saratoga with two selections from the outstanding Saturday card...
Take the Lady
Race 3 17:53 Saratoga - Magnolia's Lady
Magnolia's Lady should go close in this interesting State bred allowance race on the turf.
This well related filly put in a much-improved effort when winning a State bred maiden over this course in July. She took the lead inside the final furlong and stayed on strongly for a decisive score. She has a bit to find with a couple of these, but is open to significant improvement. She has tactical speed so should be able to take a stalking position just behind the leaders before delivering her challenge in the straight. Trainer Linda Rice has had a solid meeting with 14 winners and a respectable 18% strike rate. I advise backing her at BSP.
Tacitus for Grade 1 glory
Race 11 22:30 Saratoga - Tacitus
Tacitus can finally win a Grade 1 by taking this historic race on the main track.
The Woodward is one of the premier races in the calendar run over the Derby distance of a mile and a quarter. In truth Tacitus has been a frustrating character over the past year having been placed in three times in Grade 1 company without winning.
On his latest start in the Grade 2 Suburban at Belmont he demolished a quality field without being seriously asked. He was forwardly placed throughout, and pulled clear in the straight to win easily. He looks like the horse to beat and recommend backing him at BSP as he may drift a little in the market.
