"He had previously won a Maiden Special Weight over six furlongs in taking fashion"
Nick Shiambouros fired in another winner yesterday when Stan the Man won the feature at Saratoga. Nick returns to the Spa with two more selections...
Golden Pal to graduate in Stakes
Race 3 19:20 Saratoga - Golden Pal
Golden Pal looks like the horse to beat in this Stakes race on the turf.
This Uncle Mo colt was last seen at Royal Ascot when finishing an excellent second to The Lir Jet in the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes. He attempted to make all, but was collared close home by the game winner. This form is a cut above his rivals, including stablemate Fauici who won a Keenland Maiden Special Weight in good style. Trainer Wesley Ward has a strong hand in this race, but will be surprised if Golden Pal is beaten. He should be backed at around 2.01/1 on the exchange.
Noble Emotion a tasty price
Race 8 22:14 Saratoga - Noble Emotion
Noble Emotion is my idea of the winner of this interesting allowance race on the turf.
This lightly raced gelding finished down the field in a Stakes race run over a mile at Belmont Park. He missed the break, and was rushed to the lead before weakening in the straight. He had previously won a Maiden Special Weight over six furlongs in taking fashion. I think the return to a sprint distance will suit, and should bring about improvement. There is plenty of speed in this race, which should set him up to swoop late and land the spoils. He should be a nice price, so recommend backing him at BSP.
