NAP: Home Affairs can prove himself in a different league
Home Affairs - 16:20 Royal Ascot
Chris Waller's Nature Strip hammered home the difference between a genuinely top-class sprinter and the mediocre bunch that currently contest the division in Britain and Ireland when winning the King's Stand by four and a half lengths on Tuesday and a similar scenario may pan out in the Platinum Jubilee with Home Affairs.
Home Affairs actually beat Nature Strip over five furlongs in a Grade 1 earlier this year and didn't run as bad as the result suggests over this trip at Flemington last time. He had to give weight to most of those who finished in front of him and he also raced in the unfavoured near-side group. Home Affairs is much better judged on his previous form and he may well be too strong for these.
NEXT BEST: Falling Shadow looks well treated
Falling Shadow - 17:35 Royal Ascot
Falling Shadow won a minor event at Wolverhampton in good style towards the end of last year, but was later disqualified after testing positive for a banned substance, and made amends for that right away when scoring decisively at Newbury on his return last month.
He improved another chunk and looked a useful prospect, looming up three furlongs out and quickening clear in good style, William Buick able to ease him in the closing stages. That form is working out well and an opening mark of 92 looks more than fair. There should be plenty more to come now.
EACH-WAY: Monaadah looks the value
Monaadah - 15:05 Royal Ascot
This looks an open renewal of the Jersey Stakes and one where the favourite can be taken on. It is the unbeaten Monaadah that looks overpriced having won all three of his starts so far and he beat Audience with plenty in hand at Kempton last time.
He is a rare runner in these colours for Saeed bin Suroor and has plenty about him physically, the type to go on improving for a while yet, and he hasn't got much to find with the form principals on Timeform weight-adjusted ratings.
