After a break racing resumes in New York with opening day at Belmont Park. Nick Shiambouros hopes to start the Autumn meeting with a couple of winners...
Ruvies the one
Race 3 19:04 Belmont Park - Ruvies in Time
Ruvies in Time should run well at a fair price in this $14k non-winner of two claimer on the main track.
This filly finished down the field in a $35k non-winner of two claimer in a race taken off the turf at Saratoga earlier this month. She flashed speed before weakening at the entrance to the straight. Last year she won a $60k claimer at Aqueduct but has not reproduced that form since. Trainer Richard Schosberg drops her aggressively which is a positive move. I think she will run a big race and recommend backing her at BSP.
Scarlett to shine
Race 6 20:36 Belmont Park - Scarlett Sky
Scarlett Sky should go close in this Maiden Special Weight on the turf.
This colt created a favourable impression on debut when finishing second to Public Sector at Saratoga last month. He made his move in the straight, and finished strongly without troubling the judge. This was a super effort as he did not look fully wound up. His work tab is solid and am expecting a much-improved effort today. Trainer Shug McGaughey had a decent Saratoga meeting firing in eight winners and ending with a 27% strike rate. Hopefully, he can continue his fine run at Belmont Park. I recommend backing him at BSP.
