A Newcastle Nap and Next Best from Timeform
Newcastle Nap - 20:00 - Back Miners Gamble
Miners Gamble is a lightly-raced maiden who appears to have a good chance of opening his account now after shaping well on his return and handicap debut over this course and distance last month.
That was also his all-weather debut and he left the impression he has been handed a fair opening mark, not the best away from the stalls but staying on well inside the final furlong to finish never nearer than at the finish. He will stay further than this in time, but should be sharper now, and this looks a good opportunity.
Newcastle Next Best - 18:00 - Back Prairie Falcon
Prairie Falcon hasn't won for around 18 months, but in that time he has fallen back down the weights, and he shaped particularly well when only narrowly beaten on his return to action over course and distance last month.
He was typically given a patient ride, making headway approaching the final furlong and doing all of his best work at the finish, but he conceded first run on the winner. He was unlucky to bump into a thriving filly on that occasion and he has an excellent chance of going one place better from the same mark.
