Newcastle - 19:10 - Back Love York Work
Love Your Work won four times last season, with three of those coming on the all-weather at Southwell, and he left the impression he is ready to strike back at that track 17 days ago.
That was his first run for three months, and he left the impression he'd come on for it, while he can also be marked up for that effort. He fared best of those who sat up with an overly strong pace, leading briefly over a furlong out and only passed by one who came from further back. Love York Work is just 1 lb higher now and seems sure to go well.
NEXT BEST
Newcastle - 19:45 - Back Lowton
Lowton shaped well on his debut in a heavy-ground maiden at Doncaster in April without being knocked about and he showed the benefit of that experience when opening his account in similar conditions at Leicester last month.
He didn't necessarily need to improve, but he travelled well and only had to be pushed out to assert in the final 100 yards to win with a bit in hand. Lowton has more on his plate under a penalty now but he is open to further improvement and is expected to concede weight all round.
EACH WAY
Newcastle - 18:00 - Back Mondammej
Admittedly, Mondammej is a hard horse to win with - his last win came at Wolverhampton in November 2021 - but he has been shaping up well in some competitive races so far this season and he will be hard to keep out of the frame.
The return to all-weather isn't a problem and he goes particularly well at this track - his form figures read 1232227 - and this race should be run to suit. Mondammej is now 1 lb lower than his last winning mark and holds excellent each-way claims.
