Mirage Mac - 13:20 Newbury
Most of George Boughey's juveniles have taken a sizeable step forward from their first to their second run so far this season, so the fact that Mirage Mac made a winning debut bodes very well. Boasting a good North American pedigree, Mirage Mac ran to a fair level in making a successful debut at Wolverhampton at the start of the month, nosing in front late on, and with further improvement anticipated, she is a confident selection to maintain her unbeaten record.
Marlay Park - 13:55 Newbury
Marlay Park may be winless in two, but he boasts some good form coming into this race and is likely to prove the one to beat. His debut second to subsequent Gimcrack winner Minzaal was a cracking effort, showing good speed first time up but just not having a chance against a well-above-average winner, and he bettered that form when beaten by Mujbar, who subsequently hit the frame in the Champagne Stakes, at Newmarket last week. There are a few likely newcomers here, but a repeat of either of his first two efforts should be enough to see Marlay Park get off the mark at the third attempt.
Genuflex - 15:05 Newbury
Genuflex, who showed much more than on debut when second at Chepstow in July, didn't need to improve on that effort to open his account at Windsor in August, making the most of a lenient mark on her nursery debut. He looked as though still in good order when third at Sandown last time, the drop back to seven furlongs not looking ideal for him on that occasion, and though he is again faced with a trip that could prove on the sharp side, Newbury's more galloping track should suit him, and this looks a good opportunity for him to get back to winning ways.
