Kempton Racing Tips: Sea Grey an interesting runner

Andrew Asquith outlines the Timeform view at Kempton on Wednesday

"...remains capable of better now starting out for a yard that does well with new recruits..."

Timeform's Andrew Asquith highlights a Nap, Next Best and Each-Way selection at Kempton on Wednesday.

NAP: Sea Grey can make winning start for O'Meara

Sea Grey - 19:30 Kempton

Sea Grey looked a nice prospect when making a winning start at Lingfield towards the back end of last year, sweeping through in the final furlong to put his stamp on the race. He probably would have run close to that form on his next start over course and distance too with a clear run, still going well when no room around two furlongs out. Sea Grey wasn't persevered with once held and remains capable of better now starting out for a yard that does well with new recruits.

NEXT BEST: Starshiba can belatedly resume winning ways

Starshiba - 16:50 Kempton

Starshiba is from a good family and looked like he may progress into a useful type when opening his account over seven furlongs at this course for David Elsworth in January last year, but he hasn't quite developed as expected for these connections this season. He has gone close on numerous occasions, though, and now takes a drop in class to a level he should be more than competitive at. The drop to six furlongs is a slight concern, but all in all Starshiba should have too much for these, and is fancied to go close returned to the venue of his sole success.

EACH-WAY: Wannabe Brave open to improvement

Wannabe Brave - 20:30 Kempton

This is an open handicap and it may pay to side with the potential of Wannabe Brave, who wasn't a cheap purchase (cost 78,000 guineas as a yearling) and he seemingly been brought along with handicaps in mind. He showed more than previously on his qualifying run over a mile and a half at this course last month for all he was never dangerous in a race which contained some potentially smart types. Wannabe Brave steps up to two miles now, which should help based on his run style, and it would be no surprise if he showed much-improved form now handicapping.
