Timeform take you through the card at York on Saturday...
"...he's fancied to make a bold bid to land this race for the second time in three years..."
Timeform on Lord Glitters
13:50 - A winner of the Queen Anne at the Royal Meeting 12 months ago, LORD GLITTERS (5) highlighted he retains all his ability when third in the York Stakes on his latest start in July and he's fancied to make a bold bid to land this race for the second time in three years. Dark Vision has stepped up again as a four-year-old, as has Pogo, and both should go well, whilst Prince Eiji may also have a part to play in an open renewal.
14:25 - An incredibly strong three-year-old handicap where William Haggas holds a strong hand, and it could go the way of A STAR ABOVE (8), who has been pulling out more with each run and should be able to turn the tables with Mambo Nights from Goodwood over this longer trip. There are a whole host of improving sorts in opposition, most notably his stablemate Favourite Moon, who won with more in hand than the one-length margin suggests at Haydock last time, and recent Newmarket-scorer Coltrane.
15:00 - A red-hot Group 2, but it is very hard to get away from ONE MASTER (7), who is as likeable as they come and the proven Group 1 performer is taken to follow up her Goodwood success. She didn't have to be at her best there, but did incredibly well to get up on the line, and this track should suit better. Last year's winner Shine So Bright looks set for another big run, while Escobar and Safe Voyage bring solid Lennox Stakes form to the table.
15:40 - TRUESHAN (3) knuckled down really well to win a listed event at Haydock last time, and his campaign looks to have been geared around this race, with the return to this longer trip potentially seeing him in an even better light. There are any number of possible dangers, headed by easy Royal Ascot winner FUJAIRA PRINCE (4), who proved better than ever when winning at Royal Ascot last time, sauntering clear of his rivals and a subsequent 9 lb rise looks workable provided he can build on that (seemingly not the easiest to train).
16:10 - WINTER POWER (10) was clearly disappointing at Goodwood last tme, but a quick turnaround on an idiosyncratic track were legitimate excuses, and she looked a two-year-old going places at Redcar the time before, so she is afforded another chance. She's the pick at the prices, though Acklam Express is promising in his own right and a big threat, while Lauded has to be feared following a third-placed finish in Group 2 company.
16:40 - Another red-hot handicap but it's hard to ignore the claims of MAYDANNY (5) after his scintillating front-running display at Glorious Goodwood, even off this much higher mark, and he's taken to fend off Sinjaari, who also brings top-class handicap form to the table after his John Smith's Cup victory here. Derevo, Fifth Position and Cape Cavalli are all interesting candidates too who command much respect.
17:10 - Conditions are likely to be slower than anything SAMPERS SEVEN (7) has previously encountered, but that's not to say that she won't handle the ground and Michael Appleby's charge gets the nod following last month's thoroughly decisive course and distance success, despite going up 10 lb. Meraas will be a big threat if coping with this trip and the prevailing conditions, while the progressive Wonderwork is also feared.
