Switch to a left-handed track will suit

Greyed First has been well beaten on her last two starts but I think she could be capable of bouncing back now that she's running on a left-handed track for only the second time in her career.

She caught the eye on handicap debut over a mile at Kempton when held up in a steadily run race before drifting left early in the home straight. Once straightened up, she ran on well on the outside to finish sixth.

She ran well again over the same C&D next time when staying on late to be beaten a length into fourth but disappointed when switched to the turf and with cheekpieces on for the first time at Carlisle.

Greyed First didn't run again for the rest of the year after that and returned earlier this month after 223 days at Kempton over seven furlongs. Unsurprisingly, that trip proved far too sharp for her and again she hung left in the home straight while not being given a hard time and finished well beaten.

She's been dropped 2lb to 50 as a result and is now 3lb lower than when finishing a close fourth at Kempton last year. It's clear from her performances at that track that she needs to go left-handed and she now gets that opportunity for only the second time and the first in a handicap. The step up to 1m2f also looks likely to suit her given how well she stayed on over a mile on a couple of occasions.

The very wide draw and potentially slowly run race are concerns if she's going to be a bit slowly away and held up again but I think the market is underestimating her chance under the more suitable scenario today and any 22/1 or bigger appeals.
