Daily Present made a winning debut in a point to point at Tipperary in April and even a repeat of the ability he showed that day, never mind the potential to improve on it, would give him a better chance of making a winning start under rules than the market suggests.

Having raced very handily from the off, he went to the front with a good jump at 4 out. He was joined by Music Drive shortly before turning into the home straight but soon went on again after jumping 2 out while only being nudged along. That rival had got back within a length of him when taking a crashing fall at the last and Daily Present was in no danger on the run in to win by four lengths.

He looked to be idling whenever he hit the front and had more superiority over his rivals than the bare result suggests. This was a good performance on the clock and Music Drive has won since before being sold for £90,000 to join Gordon Elliott. I doubt he will be a double-figure price when making his rules debut.

Daily Present does face a potentially smart rival in Hawai Game, who won a very steadily run AQPS flat race on debut with plenty in hand, and it might be that Daily Present is in need of the run after a break or is still a bit green but the ability he showed on debut suggests he should be shorter in the market for a race of this quality and any 8/1 or bigger appeals.
