Generously dropped 5lb for latest run
Wetherby 13:45: Rumble B 1pt win 13/2
Rumble B started his career with Sarah Humphrey and showed some promise early on for her when finishing second in a 2m7½f novices' hurdle at Fakenham.
He was tailed off in his next two starts before bouncing back with two good runs in a row in handicap chases off 110 and 113.
His next two runs weren't so promising and he was switched back to hurdling for the start of this season. He ran well in a staying maiden hurdle at Stratford but finished last of four next time at Fontwell and ran awfully on his last start for Humphrey at Uttoxeter.
Rumble B moved to Justin Landy following that and made his first start for him at Leicester but he wasn't travelling well from a long way out and finished well beaten.
His second, and latest, start for Landy at Wetherby was far more encouraging. Stepped back up to 3m, he was held up and raced in last in a tightly-packed field until making some headway turning the final bend. He was outpaced and very gently nudged along after 3 out and only came under a shade firmer handling after 2 out. He landed flat-footed at the last and looked to be going nowhere but finished strongly on the run-in to be beaten thirteen lengths in sixth.
Rumble B wasn't given a hard time once the leaders got away after 3 out and, given that, I think it's very generous of the handicapper to drop him 5lb to 97. It may be that he was still in need of the run last time and that was the reason for the considerate ride so he may now be reaching peak fitness.
He wasn't a straightforward ride and was inconsistent when trained by Sarah Humphrey so it may be that Rumble B won't build on the promise of the Wetherby performance but in a race of this quality I would have him nearer the front of the market and any 5/1 or bigger appeals.
