Sans Of Gold is overpriced at Taunton
Potential improver in very weak race
Taunton 14:15: Sans Of Gold 0.5pt e/w 66/1
Sans Of Gold has shown very little under rules so far but I wouldn't be as surprised as the market if he was to run well at a huge price this afternoon.
He started his career in the Irish pointing field and made a fairly promising debut at Ballyknock. He was held up and never looked like challenging the winner that day but showed some ability behind horses ridden much handier. While the winner has disappointed under rules since, the runner up is favourite for the beginners chase at Thurles today, the third was narrowly beaten in a bumper on rules debut and the fourth chased home Rock My Way on his next start.
Sans Of Gold ran awfully next time before moving to Jimmy Frost and he's shown very little ability since but there are a couple of reasons why he might improve today.
He's now significantly up in trip to a distance a little over three miles with the additional yardage and the yard has shown more signs of life of late. They had a couple of horses run far better than the formbook and market expected at a point to point at Buckfastleigh while Asian Spice, Demothi and Presgrave all ran respectably at Exeter on Friday.
It might be that Sans Of Gold has a problem that caused the sudden drop in form on his second start and that means he simply doesn't have anything like the ability he showed on debut but in such a weak race I can't let him go unbacked given the more encouraging signs from the yard's horses too and any 33/1 or bigger appeals.
