Betfair punters have been pretty taken with a strong favourite over at Worcester this afternoon, as Nathan Joyes explains...
Punters paradise if gamble lands
Cardboard Gangster is today's most backed horse, competing in the 13:30 Worcester this afternoon.
Having won two of his last three races, it isn't difficult to see why the seven-year-old has been backed in from 11/4 into 15/8 this morning. Winning form is always a massive tick, but especially so when the rest of the field have found finishing first past the post difficult to date.
Cardboard Gangster continues to climb the weights, but he's clearly on a roll, and with not many rivals heading into this one in any kind of form, there's no surprise to see him heading the market.
His main market rival, Judge Earle, will need to be taken very seriously, having recently won at Ffos Las and Uttoxeter, before rallying well to finish third at Stratford over 3m3f.
Peter Bowen clearly believes the drop back in trip today will suit and it's easy to see why Sean Bowen's ride has also been supported this morning. However, Betfair punters aren't quite as keen on the 10-year-old after his grueling race just five days ago. He can be backed at 7/2 at present.
Alternative bet
Yesterday's alternative selection landed at 10/1, and one to keep an eye on is Emma Lavelle's Tara Niece, who goes chasing for the first time at the age of nine.
She may only have one hurdles win to her name to date, but with just 12 career starts to her name, and with a couple of decent runs at today's venue in July, may be worth keeping an eye on at 11/2, if you fancy an alternative to the Betfair punters main bet.
You can back today's most backed horse, Cardboard Gangster, right here at 15/8.
