A Hereford Nap and Next Best from Timeform
Hereford Nap - 16:40 - Back Mister Barclay
Mister Barclay has shaped well since entering handicaps, finishing placed in three of his four starts in this sphere, and the form of his latest third at Wetherby is working out well.
He raced wide and made smooth headway leaving the back straight, a mistake at the third last not helping his chance but he stuck to his task well. This slightly longer trip should suit well and he is more than capable of picking up a race from this sort of mark.
Hereford Next Best - 14:10 - Back Southern Sam
Southern Sam took longer than anticipated to get off the mark as a chaser, but he did so in gutsy fashion in testing conditions at Haydock in December, having to battle hard on the run-in but arguably having much more in hand than the official margin suggested.
He wasn't in the same form over a longer trip at Fontwell last time, but this doesn't look a strong race, and he makes a fair bit of appeal stepping into veterans' company and now sporting first-time cheekpieces.
