Outback Boy - 13:15 Goodwood
Like so many horses hailing from Mark Johnston's yard, Outback Boy proved much better for his debut run, putting his experience to good use when finishing third at Haydock last time. Upped in trip and on softer ground than previously, Outback Boy proved a much better proposition second up, beaten only by a couple of promising prospects. This further step up in trip should show him to even better advantage, and Johnston's colt appeals as the type to progress even further with more racing.
The Lamplighter - 14:20 Goodwood
The Lamplighter was arguably unlucky not to have opened his account for the season earlier than he did, running into one to some extent when second at Newmarket in July, before not getting a clear run of things when third here last month. He was strong in the betting on the back of those two efforts when lining up at Kempton last time, and he duly took advantage of an ideal race to get off the mark for 2020, proving himself undoubtedly in good form as he won by three quarters of a length. He has only gone up 1 lb for that victory and holds obvious follow-up claims.
Bullfinch - 14:55 Goodwood
Bullfinch he has quickly progressed into a smart performer and there is plenty of substance to his form. After getting off the mark on his final appearance of last season, Bullfinch looked a good prospect in scoring under a penalty on his reappearance at Kempton last month, beating home one who has herself come out and won convincingly since. Based on that, it is safe to say his opening mark underestimated him back at Kempton last time, and he duly proved that to be the case as he landed the hat-trick, again winning cosily. He is up in class now but there's plenty to like about the way he does things, and he probably has more to offer still.
