Friday's Most Backed: Powerful punting sees 15/2 into 9/2 Cheltenham gamble

Today's most backed horse on the Betfair Sportsbook is Powerful Position who competes in the 16:30 Handicap Chase at Cheltenham. Having opened at 15/2, he's now just 9/2 to come out on top.

The new market leader made impressive progress last season, racking up a hattrick of wins on the bounce at FFos Las and Sedgefield back in February and March.

Powerful Position returned to action at the beginning of October in a three runner field at Chepstow, finishing second. Although the seven-year-old finished 20 lengths behind the winner, it looked as though Powerful Position needed that run in order to strip fitter for Cheltenham.

20 currently head to post, but only half of the field have had a run this season, and as Powerful Position is one of them, it gives him an edge on some of his rivals.

Despite being very popular in the market, Harry Fry's Bermeo 10.09/1 is one to keep an eye on, as he returns to action.

A previous course and distance winner, who won this race last year, is certainly not without a chance this afternoon. He made a winning debut for his stable back in April at Newbury and is one to watch in the market.

Another contender Powerful Position will have to face is On Springs, who has won his last four chases. He's ought to handle the soft conditions and despite facing stronger calibre today, he's unexposed over today's trip.

However, the market has spoken and Betfair punters clearly believe Powerful Position can dominate the field at Cheltenham this afternoon.
