Friday's Most Backed: Elliott recruit being strongly supported at Gowran

Hurdle race action
We're off to Ireland for today's most backed horse
  • New Gordon Elliott recruit backed from 10/1 into 9/2
  • Well-handicapped on best form for Nick Gifford
  • Trip and ground should be ideal

We often see gambles in Ireland and today is no different with the Gordon Elliott-trained Jungle Prose being backed to land the 17:02 race at Gowran Park.

From an opening 10/1 she is now available to back at 9/2.

The main reason behind the gamble could simply be the change of stable as Jungle Prose was just a moderate performer for Nick Gifford when trained in England.

The 7yo mare did win a National Hunt Flat Race for her former trainer two years ago but she cut little ice over hurdles there after, reaching the frame just three times in 12 starts.

Jungle Prose had a peak rating of 104 for Gifford and twice finished runner-up off 98 within the last 12 months, so her new rating of 85 could be extremely generous today if the change of stable works its wonders.

All her best form came on Good and Good to Soft in Britain so Gowran's Yielding going will pose no problems for Jungle Prose, and with form over 3m she is guaranteed to see out today's trip of 2m4f.

Elliott himself remains in fine form as he gears up to the new season and has sent out 11 winners in the last fortnight, and punters clearly expect another winner with his new recruit later today.
