Nick Shiambouros was on the mark yesterday when his only selection Bronx Beauty won at 5.1 BSP at Monmouth Park. Nick returns with two fancies from Delaware Park...
Bribery to appreciate ease in grade
Race 6 20:45 Delaware Park - Bribery
Bribery is an interesting runner in this $16k maiden claimer on the main track.
This Orb colt finished down the field in a $30k maiden claimer on the turf at Ellis Park last month. He showed plenty of pace, but weakened quickly at the entrance to the straight. He had previously finished a creditable sixth in a Maiden Special Weight on the main track. I think sprinting on the main track is his game and should appreciate the class drop. He makes his debut for trainer John Carlisle who has a 30% strike rate with maiden claimers. Anything around his Morning Line price of 5.04/1 will do.
More Than Miles more than ready
Race 8 21:45 Delaware Park - More Than Miles
More Than Miles could run well at a big price in this $12.5k maiden claimer on the main track.
This gelding finished fourth to Gottaway in a similar race over a mile last month. He attempted to make all, but began to feel the strain inside the final furlong and weakened out of contention. He failed to get home in my view and will benefit from the return to six furlongs. New trainer Thomas Iannotti is a shrewd operator and has a 21% strike rate with maiden claimers. I think this is his level, and the shorter trip will play to his strengths. He should be backed at around his Morning Line price of 13.012/1.
