"She is by Candy Ride and is out of the brilliant mare Ashado who won the Breeders' Cup Distaff and was a multiple Grade 1 winner"
Nick Shiambouros was on the mark yesterday when Highly Motivated won at Belmont Park. Nick heads to Delaware Park with two selections...
Better Tapit to graduate
Race 2 18:45 Delaware Park - Better Tapit
Better Tapit should go close in this mile and a half $25k maiden claimer on the turf.
There are very few races over this distance in America, but this son of Tapit ran over this trip when finishing fourth in a Maiden Special Weight at Kentucky Downs last year. He made a wide move on the home turn and finished strongly without troubling the judge. He makes his first start for trainer Richard Hendricks who drops him aggressively for his local debut. He has the form in the book to take this, and hopefully will get a decent pace to run at. I recommend backing him at his Morning Line price of 4.57/2.
Allende for Godolphin
Race 4 19:45 Delaware Park - Allende
Allende is my idea of the winner of this interesting Maiden Special Weight on the main track.
This beautifully bred filly finished second to Be Present on debut in a similar event over this course in June. She got caught in a speed duel and paid the price close home. This was a solid effort and has every right to improve. She is by Candy Ride and is out of the brilliant mare Ashado who won the Breeders' Cup Distaff and was a multiple Grade 1 winner. Her paddock value will be greatly enhanced with a win today. I recommend backing her at around 2.89/5 on the exchange.
