"Secret Fix's draw in stall 6 should enable her to get a good trip while racing in the clear on the outside"
Mark Milligan is venturing to Del Mar for today's US selection, where he has a bet in the first race...
Del Mar 23:00: Secret Fix 1pt win at 11/4 or better
Having had a good scour of this evening's Saratoga card, I struggled to come up with anything solid, so it's over to Del Mar we go and a selection in the starter allowance that opens the card at the San Diego venue.
The excellent Robertino Diodoro fields two in the race, Crimson Rose and Secret Fix, though it's the latter that holds the most appeal as she makes her first start for the barn following a claim out of a win in maiden claiming company last time.
She dueled on the lead that day before drawing away to win by nearly 2 lengths, proving strong at the finish over 6f.
She's also got decent form in better races than this over today's 6.5f distance, so I've no qualms about her stepping back up in trip.
Diodoro also fields Crimson Rose, who hasn't been in the barn too long either and ran okay when third to another of today's rivals M Is For Magic last time, though whether she's got quite the ability of her stable companion is debatable.
The aforementioned M Is For Magic is likely to emerge as the main danger and her stalking style could play well in a race that should be run at a fair clip.
However, Secret Fix's draw in stall 6 should enable her to get a good trip while racing in the clear on the outside. She's fast enough to get the lead if that's what the excellent Juan Hernandez decides to do, though is also tractable enough to just stalk the leaders from the outside if needs be.
