Alan heads to Sandown this evening for his two selections in a double which is boosted for Thursday's Sportsbook Multiple...
"She stays beyond today's trip and is usually played late from off the pace. But as a bigger price than Highland Avenue and with the boosted double odds, hopefully we can land a nice win."
All roads lead to Avenue
18:55 Sandown - Back Highland Avenue
It was back down to earth with a bang after the heady Hexham Tuesday. But we can't dine out on that forever, so it's Sandown tonight in search of a winning double.
The first selection Highland Avenue came to my attention winning his maiden at Kempton as I'd backed a horse behind. It was emphatic that evening, and he subsequently won another race at the track with then-rider Hollie Doyle very complimentary about him afterwards.
He landed the Feilden Stakes at Newmarket last month and as a son of Lumiere, he is rattling along nicely. In fact, the handicapper raised him 15lb to 110.
With a perfect draw in one he has made the running before, so those tactics could be employed again especially around Sandown.
Conditions look ideal for Born To Please
19:55 Sandown - Back Born To Please
Soft conditions suit Born To Please, and she wouldn't mind the going heavy either which makes her of great interest in the closing fillies' handicap.
In a low grade she is fairly likeable as a dual-purpose horse. She placed a couple of times over the winter including a second at Newbury and has winning form at Uttoxeter in the mud.
She stays beyond today's trip and is usually played late from off the pace. But as a bigger price than Highland Avenue and with the boosted double odds, hopefully we can land a nice win.
