Daily Racing Multiple: D'Allen to be celebrated with Lavelle for Haydock double

Haydock's card on Thursday features two decent races over fences

"Now 1-1 over the larger obstacles, today's heavy conditions are a plus and her jumping looked very polished recently, so I am looking forward to seeing her tackle the grander and stiffer park fences at Haydock."

Alan hit the bar with two seconds on Wednesday so he is looking to go one better at Haydock on Thursday with two horses in his 18/1 double that will handle the testing ground...

D'Allen could be celebrated with a famous win

Back Celebre D'Allen @ 5/2 in the 14:40 at Haydock

Two seconds yesterday with both trading at odds-on in defeat; leaving us two more days in 2021 to push the profit up.

The going at Haydock will sort a few out on Thursday with the track expected to ride extremely testing, but the heavy shouldn't be a burden for the Philip Hobbs-trained Celebre D'Allen, who should act on the ground judged on his old French form.

He competed at a fairly handy level around Auteuil, finishing with honour at Grade 3 level and good enough to land a Listed Hurdle across the channel for Louisa Carberry.

A lengthy absence followed of 783 days, so Hobbs earned the plaudits for producing him in good shape to win over course and distance last time a shade snugly. He was waited with but stayed on strongly under Tom O'Brien as befitted a horse with a 4m4f Cross-Country winner in his pedigree and two 3m1f runners.

Up to 126 doesn't look punitive and O'Brien has only ridden twice at Haydock this term - and Celebre D'Allen was one of them. We also need more 'Alan' horses as they are going out of fashion. Weird Al was a good one, yesterday Master Alan wasn't so good at 66/1. A cause celebre without the controversy will do today!

Would you be well with a winner? I thought you would

Back Wouldubewell @ 9/2 in the 15:15 at Haydock

I like the look of the card in the north west and the second race under the microscope is also an Extra Place Special on the Sportsbook.

Gold Well is a jumps' stallion I have a lot of time for, as his offspring usually have stamina in abundance, and with the heavy to suit, Wouldubewell can continue the good work following her chase debut win at Fontwell last time.

That was her first try at 3m2f, and while the Fontwell race turned into a slight sprint, she travelled superbly throughout and then had to fight and use a bit of staying power at the end to see off her nearest pursuer. But her jockey that day Thomas Bellamy always looked confident and she delivered a super jump down the back straight three from home.

She had a couple of big wins in Point-To-Points and she looks as though she will be a far superior chaser to a hurdler. Now 1-1 over the larger obstacles, today's heavy conditions are a plus and her jumping looked very polished recently, so I am looking forward to seeing her tackle the grander and stiffer park fences at Haydock.

This looks a good race, but the selection certainly has scope to improve a chunk further from 126.
