"Priced up at 7/1, he arrives into the race off the back of a good run when finishing second at Thirsk over 6f behind Ustath."
A complete non-event yesterday with both of Alan's selections non-runners. He's hoping for Tuesday's picks at least turning up in a boosted 80/1 double for the evening...
Polar the main selection
18:25 Newcastle - Back Polar Cloud
Heather Main's Polar Cloud won over course and distance last time out with plenty in hand, and he can defy the 5lb rise to score again.
It's a reasonably strong race for the grade with a fair bit of winning form on offer, but Polar Cloud won basically eased down with a liking for a more preferential standard of opposition.
He previously caught the eye travelling strongly in a race at the track over 1m, so I think he's still a horse that could be ahead of his mark.
All eyes on Kolussus in the finale
20:55 Newcastle - Back Kolossus
The former Michael Dods trained Kolussus looks such a well-handicapped horse, I am going with him to win the finale at Newcastle. The contest is also an EXTRA PLACE SPECIAL on the SPORTSBOOK.
Priced up at 7/1, he arrives into this off the back of a good run when finishing second at Thirsk over 6f behind Ustath.
That was very much a return to form and he is thrown in from 59 considering he was rated 80 in 2018. Although clearly this can be a bit dangerous, as he has been on the downgrade for a while, rather than just being well treated.
But Thirsk was a definite step in the right direction.
Split your stakes between the boosted win double and an each-way double.
