Bank on Spring for Premier success
Leg 1: Back Springbank @ 11/1 in the 19:15 at Killarney
Mulberry Hill bolted up yesterday at Worcester but unfortunately my York luck was out. We move on with Thursday and a terrific card at Killarney in the evening and the first bet is in the Premier Handicap with Springbank.
He's been competing at Listed level mostly this season and has proved a difficult horse to place as he hasn't quite cut it against some decent horses - including his third behind Master Of Reality in Her Majesty's Plate. That's a decent bit of form over 1m6f as he met some trouble in the run too - with the first and second rated 111 and 100.
Tactics have been varied with the horse, being held up and also making the running but off 97 and towards the head of the weights he looks to have a good chance and he was a mover on the Sportsbook too from 16/1 into 11s.
Weld runner to bounce back
Leg 2: Back Abstract @ 15/8 in the 19:45 at Killarney
The 1m6f handicap at 19:45 has a Dermot Weld Moyglare horse out of Sea The Stars - and with his pedigree he looks a bit out of place in amongst horses rated in the 60s and 70s.
In truth, Abstract has been a huge disappointment but there is hope upping him tonight to a new distance with the headgear back on. He looked a bit short of pace running around 1m4f at Dundalk and it's worth a try tonight as he was niggled along in that and shaped like a stayer.
His run at Roscommon was also a little unlucky as he was caught on the outside and as a STS, his offspring are fluent movers and good ground with top rider Dylan Browne McMonagle on points to a big run. He is another backed on the Sportsbook into 11/4.
