Alan Dudman has two selections from tonight's card at Sandown with the double being boosted to 33/1 on the Betfair Sportsbook...
"Jamie Spencer gave Byron Hill a textbook hold-up ride to win at Yarmouth earlier in the season, and Spencer again can do the business at Sandown in the finale."
Owl to fly in
Leg 1: Back Barn Owl @ 7/2 in the 20:10 at Sandown
The 20:10 looks a cracking handicap with some well-bred, unexposed 3yos. Notably Sea Sylph and Barn Own - with preference for the latter.
Roger Charlton's colt is out of his wonderful mare Thistle Bird and she got off the mark to win at Ripon novice last time out.
However, her best run came at Kempton finishing second to Siskany. She was in a poor position and had to come from a lot of further back than the winner in the steadily run race, so she can be upgraded on that run. Siskany was subsequently fourth in a big handicap at Royal Ascot.
Byron can be top of the hill
Leg 2: Back Byron Hill @ 9/2 in the 20:45 at Sandown
Jamie Spencer gave Byron Hill a textbook hold-up ride to win at Yarmouth earlier in the season, and Spencer again can do the business at Sandown in the finale.
He looked a stayer on the that occasion and has shaped on more than one occasion like a 2m trip will suit.
He was pitched into the Northumberland Vase last time out and ran with credit - only going down four-and-a-half lengths to Zeeband coming from off the pace. He wouldn't have won but he was certainly better than the bare result suggests.
