Skontonovski could turn out to be a bargain buy
Leg 1: Back Skontonovski @ 12/1 in the 17:45 at Roscommon
A tough-looking card at Roscommon is the fixture to tackle on Bank Holiday, and I cannot resist an Ado McGuinness handicapper again with Skontonovski - a horse cut from 14/1 to 12/1 on the Sportsbook.
He raced in the UK for Richard Spencer without success, although he struggled with a handicap mark that at one stage was 79 last summer.
Connections paid only £6,500 for him at the Newmarket Sales, but he surely can win a couple of races now he is running from just 50, nearly 30lb lower than his peak number.
His Killarney run was much better last time, improving for the good ground and the 1m from a wide position. McGuinness is using the excellent Cian MacRedmond again with a hefty 7lb claim.
Meade stayer can build on Fairyhouse run
Leg 2: Back Too Bright @ 7/2 in the 19:45 at Roscommon
A tough race to round off the Monday with at Roscommon but Too Bright looks to have enough to go close for Noel Meade.
He is far from being a stable star from 58, but he showed a low grade race could be in him at Fairyhouse last time out finishing in sixth position behind Franno - a horse who was ahead of him at Bellewstown too.
Meade's 4yo tends to be held up in his races, but Colin Keane is up today replacing Chris Hayes and might decide to ride him closer to the pace as he was given too much to do at Fairyhouse and raced wide. His challenge petered out as the effort to get in a threatening position took its toll.
He has certainly improved for stepping up in distance and he wears the tongue-tie for the first time this evening. There could be some improvement from this lowly rating.
You can back the pair in a boosted double at 67.066/1
