Echo Beach - 13:15 Chester
Echo Beach stepped up greatly on his debut form when finishing runner-up at Haydock last time, and he may have gotten off the mark on that occasion had he been more professional. Racing in touch, Hugo Palmer's charge was produced to lead over two furlongs out, but he hung left, allowing the winner to head him inside the final furlong. There should be more to come from Echo Beach and he is taken to go one better.
Ejtilaab - 15:35 Chester
A winner of a Doncaster maiden on his sole start for Roger Varian, Ejtilaab has improved on that form since joining Ian Williams's yard, despite being unable to add any further wins to his tally. He twice finished third over a mile at Ascot, his performance on the second occasion backed up by the clock, and he wasn't disgraced when seventh at the same venue from 2 lb out of the handicap last time. He looks weighted to go well now dropped back in grade and is well drawn for a front runner.
Edinburgh Castle - 16:45 Chester
Edinburgh Castle does need things to drop his way, but with the predicted pace forecast being a particularly strong one, he should be seen to better effect than he has been of late. He certainly had excuses when runner-up here on his penultimate start, going well when boxed in at a crucial stage, and he again shaped well having not made things easy for himself at Leicester last time, finishing third after being left with a lot to do. He is undoubtedly capable of winning a race from this mark and it is unlikely he will get a better opportunity than this.
