Nick Shiambouros was on the mark yesterday when his best bet Martini Lane won at 6.4 BSP. Nick returns to Belmont Park with two selections...
"This was super effort from this likeable filly and significant improvement is expected"
Back Stimulus Check Race 8 at BSP in the 21:47 at Belmont Park
Give Ernie another chance
Race 3 18:57 Belmont Park - Ernie Banker
I am going to give Ernie Banker another chance in this State bred Maiden Special Weight on the main track.
This gelding was pulled up in a similar race at Aqueduct back in March. He lost his action soon after the start and his rider called it a day. Clearly there was something amiss, as he was put in a van and taken away. He is best judged on his previous start when finishing an excellent third in a competitive Maiden Special Weight. Trainer John Kimmel has exercised a great deal of patience with him and has been working well ahead of this assignment. Kimmel has had a fast start to the meeting, and hopefully Ernie Banker can give him another winner. I recommend backing him at BSP.
Stimulus Check to grab the cash
Race 8 21:47 Belmont Park - Stimulus Check
Stimulus Check is my idea of the winner of this fascinating Stakes race on the main track.
This Tapiture filly was most impressive on debut when winning a Maiden Special Weight at Saratoga in August. She missed the break, but put in a strong run in the straight and was well on top at the finish. This was super effort from this likeable filly and significant improvement is expected. The extra yardage will suit her down to the ground, and the talented Benjy Hernandez rides back for connections. Hernandez may not be a household name but is a gifted rider. BSP is the way to go.
