Kelpie Grey showed improved form on his return from six months off when resuming winning ways at Musselburgh last month, doing well to get across from a high draw and having something up his sleeve at the line.

He made it three wins from his last four starts when following up over seven furlongs at the same course 11 days ago and, clearly better than ever at present, he has to be high on the shortlist in pursuit of a hat-trick at a course where he can boast a solid record.

The Caltonian was in excellent form on the all-weather during the winter months, winning five times in all, and he ran another cracker when runner-up from a 5 lb higher mark two starts back.

He was in the process of running below form when brought down by no fault of his own back at Newcastle last time, but he has been given plenty of time to get over that, and may be worth chancing back on turf from a lower mark.
