The Gold Cup has been won by Sizing John - landing winning antepost bets at [1000.0] on the Betfair Exchange.
A total of £67 was traded on Jessica Harrington's seven-year-old at the Exchange's maximum price, who went off at a Betfair Starting Price of [8.6], some way off the market principals.
The pre-race betting had been dominated by red-hot Willie Mullins' two-time runner-up Djakadam, with the odds suggesting Colin Tizzard's Native River would provide the likely competition for the honours.
Those two were both backed at [2.08] in the run as they chased Sizing John, ridden superbly by Robbie Power, over the last few furlongs but they were unable to collar the winner, and were pipped to the runner-up spot by Minella Rocco.
Sentimental selection Cue Card fell at the same fence that claimed him in the 2016 running.
Sizing John was Harrington's first ever Gold Cup runner.
