Busker to carry on where he left off
15:55 Ascot - Back Sir Busker
Sir Busker progressed well from handicaps to Group races last season and he can get the better of Haqeeqy in the Queen Anne Trial.
William Knight's had a tough campaign in 2020; taking in eight races, but he withstood all that to finish a creditable fourth in the QEII. Remarkable really considering he was beaten into second in the Bunbury Cup in the summer - I backed him then and he should have won. Spanish City was to blame!
Ascot's mile suits him well and he finishes off strongly. This effectively is a drop down in grade and he won fresh last season at Newcastle.
Kilcruit to gain his revenge
18:30 Punchestown - Back Kilcruit
The two biggest names are in the Champion INH Bumper with Sir Gerhard and Kilcruit doing battle again. Although there's another big name here in O'Toole, which takes me back to the time I played cricket against the legendary actor Sir Peter.
He featured (but didn't do much playing) for Brondesbury Cricket Club against my school first XI and did nothing apart from stand at first slip in a cravat and occasionally smoke a cigarette in the cordon in effortless fashion. Little did I appreciate sharing a field with a Hollywood legend. I didn't even know who he was back then.
I am hoping the same style can translate to Kilcruit gaining his revenge over Sir Gerhard from Cheltenham. Simply put, the latter got the best ride as Rachael Blackmore rode like Steve Cauthen and outfoxed them all with a superb front-running effort.
For that reason I give another chance to Kilcruit - who looked a superstar prior to Cheltenham with his effortless victories.
