15:12 Nottingham - Back Hey Mr @ 9/110.00 1pt

Hey Mr - 9/110.00 on the Betfair Sportsbook - is a horse we backed when he last ran here at Nottingham at a big price, and he came fast and late over five furlongs, having been outpaced in the early stages in a strong Class 5 race for the grade only to miss out by a nose. I mentioned then that Nottingham is the only venue where I want to back him, given his course record reads 21331 and his optimal conditions would be on deep ground.

Today, he returns to Nottingham and gets his favoured deep ground (currently heavy). His two third-placed efforts when running here at Nottingham both came behind the now Group 1 performer Raasel, and both came on ground quicker than ideal (good and good to soft) off of marks of 77 and one on this card in 2021.

The form of both of those thirds is very striking, and today, he returns to a slow surface and has dropped to a rating of 65 and is in Class 5 company as he was when we backed him back in July, where he recorded his best RPR of the season which coincided with his only visit to this venue this year.

He was narrowly touched off by May Blossom in July, who was returning to soft ground for the first time since rated in the '80s, and the next time that rival was given the same conditions, he recorded an RPR of 87 at Beverley up in grade when touched off by a neck.

That form looks strong in the context of this race. On that evidence, the move back to six furlongs looks like a good one for which he has only had one attempt when given the combination of soft ground, which came on debut behind the now 100-rated Tanmawwy when beaten four lengths as a 3/14.00 favourite and denied a clear run in the closing stages.

He has absolute optimum conditions to strike today, is fairly handicapped and has a record of 2230123 on soft ground outside of his reappearance. He is unexposed at six furlongs but has proven his stamina.

He makes plenty of appeal and can reverse recent Brighton form with Concierge now back at his favoured venue on just his second start for new connections with that one typically not showing the same form away from Bath, Epsom or Brighton - three undulating tracks.

The selection ran on strongly at Brighton, suggesting he was still in good form, but it's this venue that brings the best out of him and with only one or two of his rivals having form on a deep surface, he will surely be in the thick of things at the death. Willingly rates the biggest danger ahead of Concierge.

6/17.00 would be the basement price, but 8/19.00 or bigger is more than acceptable.

Fantasy Master enjoys this venue, and on the back of a good second here eight days ago, he must be high on any shortlist. But he is priced like he is unbeatable but is yet to win off of a rating this high, and this is the quickest turnaround he has had in his career (only 1-14 within two weeks).

Spoof is in excellent heart and rates a horse to keep on side and in contrast, has an excellent record when turned out quickly and could take advantage of this ease in grade. Ben Sanderson claims three off his back, and he will surely be in the thick of things, having comfortably held Fantasy Master at Ascot earlier this year.

However, Spoof's draw in stall three and his lacklustre performance on his only visit here is a slight cause for concern. They tend to navigate towards the stand side (high drawn numbers) at this venue, and it can be problematic down the centre of the track. It may be worth giving another chance to Desert Games - 6/17.00 on the Betfair Sportsbook - who should have the favoured side of the track against the rail and is almost certainly on a winnable rating of 80.

He made a promising yard debut 62 days ago at Goodwood when caught on the wrong side of the track and racing away from where the action developed only to steam home inside the final furlong. Nothing all day came down the far side of the track, and everything that tried finished legless, so it's worth an upgrade, and it's up there with the best of the form on offer.

The winner, Jm Jungle, finished 1/2 length behind Equilateral at York next time, followed by a one-length behind Raasel at Haydock and a length defeat behind Vintage Clarets back on the Knavesmire.

That was a big effort, and the selection hasn't had many goes over this trip, and his latest was the first when coupled with soft ground.

The combination of first-time blinkers, soft ground and five furlongs resulted in a career-best when last seen, and on his three previous starts over this trip, he had been held by no more than 1/2 a length - and that was when he was denied a clear run. He has a bigger effort in him and is worth chancing at the odds.

Tyndrum Gold needs to bounce back from a few lesser efforts this season on turf, but he could easily prove a different proposition returned to the venue that saw him go 2-2 as a Juvenile. However, that form is more of a visual positive than anything on the clock or the value of the bare form outside of one improved runner. He is the obvious one to come for money, and the early move 13/27.50 into 9/25.50 is typical and expected, given his record here.

Behind The Scenes will be popular with an unbeaten record on the AW, but In These Shoes was as close to him at Newmarket as she was at Wolverhampton, so perhaps he didn't enhance his form returning to the AW scene last time despite getting his head back in front.

It may be worth looking away from the obvious. Theme Park - 11/26.50 on the Betfair Sportsbook - has had some tough asks in better company than this during the season, and he bounced back from a couple of lesser efforts at York last time on the back of a gelding operation. He was caught poorly positioned but still clocked the excellent closing sectionals. He ran four of the last five furlongs quicker than anything else in the race and had to come from the rear of the field - tough to do at a track like York, favouring front runners.

The form has worked out well. The third bolted up at Newmarket next time, recording an RPR of 111. The fourth went down narrowly in a hot Class 2 Handicap at the same venue, confirming form with the Sky Bet Sunday Series race winner won by Silver Sword, who in turn was only beaten three lengths by Chindit at Sandown in Listed company.

The depth in form he holds this season suggests one of these races will fall his way. Today, he returns to the scene of his two Juvenile starts in which he bumped into Silver Knott (109) on debut (third a winner next time out and rated 87) and a victory, and he drops into a Class 4 0-85.

He is well drawn, and in the hope that he breaks better than he did at York, he looks worth siding with, having all the ingredients for a bigger performance.
