Tuscan looks back on an upward swing
-
Is exceptionally well treated on last year's form
-
Can make his second AW start a winning one
Tuscan - 9/25.50 on the Betfair Sportsbook - has picked up the progressive thread in recent starts, and now looks to be the time to catch him from a good draw returned to Newcastle, where he caught the eye on his penultimate start.
He bounced back to form to stop the rot of a rapidly falling handicap mark three starts ago at Ayr when a big eye-catcher, having been continuously denied a clear run from the rear of the field only to be beaten one length at the line by a course specialist.
His penultimate start at Newcastle over 1m saw him poorly positioned at the rear of the field in a race that clocked a very slow time and favoured those ridden prominently, but he stuck to the task well and finished off his race with a flurry.
That form ties in closely with many of today's rivals, giving him the edge, but his latest effort at Leicester when promoted to third, having suffered interference at the finish again, saw him to good effect, clocking the fastest final three furlongs and the fastest final furlong when squeezed up the rail.
It is a matter of time before Tuscan gets back to winning ways, having been rated as high as 105 - 99 this time last year - so there's a good chance this progressive streak will continue.
He is favoured by a high draw today, and in the hope that Daniel Tudhope comes strong down the stand-side rail, he holds good claims in this event on just his second start on all weather.
Back him at 4/15.00 or bigger on the Betfair Sportsbook.
