The market tends to overbet the Nicky Henderson-trained The Bomber Liston. While fences didn't go to plan in three starts this summer, his hurdle runs at the back end of last term wouldn't make him a solid favourite for this either, and his suspect stamina would be a cause for concern.
There's enough reason to take on the favourite, and Hurricane Harvey - 5/23.50 on the Betfair Sportsbook - makes an appeal on his 2-2 record at this venue.
He finished off last season with an excellent second at Cheltenham's April meeting, and his record, fresh on balance, is enough to think he will be fit enough to do himself justice. He reached a rating as high as 139 over hurdles, and he is only four pounds above his latest hurdle victory at Ludlow.
He handles any ground, and his jockey, Jack Hogan, gets a good tune out of him, so he looks highly likely to give his running. West To The Bridge is feared whenever you see Harry Skelton in the saddle, but this mark is high enough to defy now at the age of ten on seasonal reappearance.
Back him no shorter than 5/23.50.
