Saturday selections with six and five places
York - 15:35 - Back Live Your Dream
With six places on the Sportsbook for the Ebor Handicap coming up at 15:35, I cannot let my old friend Live Your Dream go unbacked at a drifting price of 14/115.00.
Running off top weight here and a mark of 109 is a tough ask, but he should have a good set up as a horse that can lead, and a repeat of the run when finishing third at Royal Ascot presents a bit of a back-to-lay trade.
The 6yo is a good traveller, and I can see York with his run style suiting. I'd prefer a lower draw than 15 judged on how racing has panned out this week, but hopefully he can get down the centre or more far side.
He landed a valuable handicap at Newmarket last time back up to 1m6f and it's the distance he could excel at.
With York form in the bag too, I see him going well under Oisin Murphy for an each-way pick.
Ascot - 16:10 - Back Fresh
Fresh is another horse I backed at Royal Ascot, and I thought he was one of the unlucky ones, as he finished fifth in the Wokingham and finished well despite not having a clear passage.
On paper it hasn't been a great season as his form reads 0, 5, 0, 5, but I think he's a better horse than those figures and none travelled better than him in the Wokingham.
Last time he raced in the International at Ascot - one of the toughest handicaps of the year. Dropping down to 6f and a first try at York is worth a shot and if Oisin Orr can keep him where the pace is despite his draw in 17, he does look overpriced on his Wokingham run.
We can go each-way again at a massive 20/121.00.
