Alan Dudman is backing a 35/136.00 Windsor multiple
A lack of support for Stuart Kittow's Monteria was understandable this morning from 7/24.50 out to 5/16.00, as the 5yo was a convincing 3L winner over 1m2f at Windsor last time, but it came in soft conditions.
However, he did come from last to first in fine fashion when reeling in the Saeed bin Suroor 10/11 favourite Dubai Souq, and there was 10L gap to the 80-rated third. On that, the 6lb rise might not stop him.
Soft ground played a part in the field stretched out and he looks ready made to step up to 1m4f this evening.
Considering he had to loop the field and come wide last time, he could still offer more from 77, especially with the 1m4f to suit.
His action was quite high of knee watching the Winsdor race again, but he does look a galloper with enough pace to handle a sharp track. Rain will be welcome, but I am not relying on it.
The 5/16.00 also offers the chance to play each-way with the eight in the field.
Trainer George Baker has been ticking along quite nicely this term - with 11 winners so far, although his older horses have fared best with 6-32 with his 4yos+ on the turf.
The booking of William Buick on Rechercher is a positive, as Buick holds a 27% strike-rate at Windsor in the last five seasons.
Rechercher is a horse blessed with stamina and she isn't the quickest daughter of Nathaniel we've ever seen on the track, but she ran well to finish second at Lingfield last time despite the race not being a thorough test of stamina.
Sticking to 1m4f on quick-ish ground looks her thing, and she has put together a series of solid runs since leaving Ralph Beckett for Baker.
She is 0-13 all told, but they should go a better gallop this evening and she's dipped down to a winnable mark.
