Southwell - 15:08: Back Tsunami Spirit
Circles was another second yesterday for the column done at a very short price in-running at 1.132/15 to go with the previous day's second at 1.031/33 while the second selection at Dundalk took a walk from 7/18.00 to a BSP of 40/0, which is never ideal.
Southwell on Thursday is a card with plenty of runners but the unexposed Tsunami Spirit has got to be of interest on handicap debut today.
This 2yo impressed both visually and on the clock at Kempton when taking his novice in October over 6f and he beat a short priced favourite of Peter Chapple-Hyam's that day in Ezra Cee.
He also ran well at Kempton in September, and the form with the horses involved there behind Saeed bin Suroor's Olympic Candle looks a handy bit of form.
Kevin Philippart De Foy's youngster was given a mark of 85 after his third start but stuck to novice company on his last run at Catterick.
Once again the time was a decent one given the ground (heavy), and switching to a more conventional racing surface today and a fair track should see him have no excuses. He has proven he acts on the All-Weather at Kempton although his sire (the sire of sires) Invincible Spirit is only 1-19 over 6f here on the Tapeta with four placed runners.
Chelmsford - 20:00: Back Thank The Lord
Chelmsford lately has been a track that has suited front-runners and those on the pace and it's been mighty difficult to make up ground from the back, and with that in mind, Thank The Lord has a good opportunity to back up his latest win.
He scored readily at Chelmsford last time over C&D for a personal best and won easily by over 3L.
The sprinter raced on the speed and had a target to aim at, and while he had done a fair bit of racing over 5f previously, he saw out the 6f well.
He seems to save his best for Chelmsford and won when making all over 5f last winter. It's not a great race and he needs a personal best, but he's done well upped to 6f and can pull out a more off a 7lb higher mark.
