Horse Racing Tips: Back Tawalla to make handicap debut count in 19/1 double

Tawalla goes handicapping for the first time at Kempton this evening

Alan Dudman is on Wednesday duty at Hamilton and Kempton and he's looking for a 19/1 winner with his Sportsbook double...

Hamilton - 18:50 - Back Fifty Sent

Fifty Sent has been improving at a low level. His opposition at Hamilton this evening for the 1m3f Handicap looks slightly threadbare in terms of numbers, and the 4yo can add to his solid start to the campaign.

He overcame a steady early pace to win at Newcastle 1m2f in May, and crucially settled better than his previous start (and first of the season) when a little too eager.

He went down fighting at Ayr last time finishing second, hitting around 2.01/1 in-running behind Havana Party, and the winner was in a better position into the straight as Fifty Sent had to come from a bit further back but finished strongly.

On that run, the climb at Hamilton with an extra furlong should suit him, and he's proven in this 0-65 grade.

Off a mark of 62, he sneaks into this and his trainer Michael Dods is 2-5 at Hamilton this year at 40%.

Kempton - 19:10 - Back Tawalla

The 3yo Handicap at 19:10 over 6f has a mixture of the more experienced horses against those with potential, and Charlie Fellowes' Tawalla is in the latter bracket.

Priced at 5/16.00 this morning, Tawalla has improved with each and every race thus far and starts handicapping from 81 this evening.

He looks as though he'll get 7f in time judged on his strong finish at Ripon in maiden company.

That race as a whole was nothing spectacular against two other rivals, with the 4/91.44 favourite Talha 5L behind in third, but Tawalla looked progressive and it was about as clear cut as you like.

The selection took a nice lead from the favourite tucked in behind and pulled between runners to head home. He still looked a little green under pressure with his head slightly high, but I put that down to the lack of know-how rather than anything untoward.

He had previously finished second to Declan Carroll's Changeofmind - a rapid sort who beat him at Catterick over 5f, and Tawalla was nowhere near quick enough over the minimum at that track.

The time figure from his Ripon victory indicated a very strong early pace with the sectionals, and the way he pulled away suggests a stiffer track at Kempton won't be an issue.

His sire Invincible Spirit is an old hand with runners at Kempton with a win rate of 13% and placed at 37%.
