Good ground and 2m4f seem to suit Chess Player, and it's hard to get away from Ben Pauling's chaser who heads the betting at 15/82.88 for the 15:10 at Huntingdon.
How he copes with a 7lb rise and a rise in class is the question, but he's taken so well to fences I wouldn't want to be laying him today as he hammered a field last time by 21L.
That victory came at Statford and even the rain beforehand didn't stop him, and the ground was certainly softer than the official going given as good. Despite a sticky jump at the last, it was an easy win.
There's scope he can still improve over this trip as he's unexposed at 2m4f but he certainly possesses enough pace for sharp tracks, and displayed that by winning over fences at Huntingdon on good ground back in May.
Pauling uses conditional Beau Morgan today and the 5lb will be a big help, while Morgan is 1-1 at Huntingdon this term.
A plethora of Class 6 races await at Brighton today, and while it's a track I tend to avoid, Silver Bubble has a good chance to win at the seaside again having shaped well on more than one occasion of late.
She's a winner at the track previously which is always a help and landed this race (one of the divisions) 12 months ago under Saffie Osborne who rides again.
The grey needs to be played late and landed the race off 57 last year, so from an 8lb lower mark she is a player, although at this level, you'll often find a well-treated horse because they aren't very good.
She didn't run too badly at Kempton recently behind Andrew Balding's Club Manager, although that was over 1m4f and the testing finish at Kempton blunted her effort and she appeared not to stay. Different tactics were also employed on that occasion.
Back at 1m2f is a major plus and she has been supported on the Sportsbook too from 11/43.75 into 9/43.25.
