Horse Racing Tips: Pertemps candidate to enhance claims in Sunday Naas double

Gigginstown
Cleatus Poolaw is one of the market leaders for the Pertemps Final at Cheltenham

Alan Dudman has two bets for Sunday at Naas for his latest Sportsbook double...

  • Pertemps qualifier on the radar on Sunday

  • Lazer has a chance to break his duck

  • Alan Dudman picks out 4/15.00 and 3/14.00 tips

Naas - 15:25: Back Lazer Wolf

Fairly threadbare on the racing front with just two meetings, and Hereford makes limited appeal today, although it's been a fairly dismal week on the tipping front, so hopefully we can put that right in Ireland.

Lazer Wolf is still searching for his first win of any kind, but at least he'll be at home in the heavy conditions on Sunday.

He was sent off favourite last time at Fairyhouse but was firmly put in his place by an unexposed and progressive JP McManus horse, but a 6L defeat in second was a pretty good run. There doesn't look anything of the ability of Miss Pronunciation in this race, and Lazer Wolf has been behind her chasing her tail twice now.

The race at Fairyhouse last time was run at a steady pace, and that could have been a factor as Lazer Wolf looks the type who will get a bit further, and he got a lot closer to Miss Pronunciation at Punchestown previously - and he travelled really well in that.

This does look an open race and the 4/15.00 is a fair reflection of his chances.

Naas - 15:55: Back Cleatus Poolaw

One of the most progressive horses on the card today at Naas is Gordon Elliott's Cleatus Poolaw, and he gets his chance to qualify for the Pertemps and heads the market for his handicap debut.

He couldn't have been more impressive at Naas last time over a shorter distance of 2m2f, but he looked all over a horse for 3m in the future - a big grand chasing type like most of the Gigginstown purchases.

The youngster previously had met high-calibre horses in Maiden Hurdle company - getting thrashed by Ballyburn and chasing home Daddy Long Legs.

An opening mark of 130 shows his form has been good to date, but the 6yo will appreciate today's step up a chunk in distance half a mile to 2m7f.

He is one of the second favourites in the betting for the Pertemps Final at Cheltenham on the ante-post market at 8/19.00, and a good performance today could see that shorten and take favouritism.
