Alan Dudman goes for a 19/1 double on Saturday
Another win beckons for Quinn's flying sprinter
Back Miss Nay Never @ 5/1 in the 13:30 at Lingfield
I stepped in for Tony Calvin for this week's ante-post preview and spoke in glowing terms with Miss Nay Never, and I am pleased she has gone out to 5/1 for the Lingfield 13:30.
She's up in class for the Listed Hever Sprint Stakes and out to maintain her superb strike on the All-Weather with eight wins from 12 starts.
Four have come in quick succession arriving for this, and she couldn't have been more impressive last time at Chelsmford when she blew her rivals away from the front, outclassing some fellow sprinters in fine style from a mark of 90. That was a serious performance.
What was eye-catching from Chelmsford was her gate speed, as the blindfold was whipped off she flew out and recorded a decent time.
She's done all her winning at Chelmsford, Newcastle and Wolverhampton, but her sire No Nay Never has a fair record at Lingfield with a 16% win rate and 28% placed.
The sprinter had previously fired in a very good time at the Essex venue in November, and while the draw won't be easy for this out in 10, she can be a little keen and there is a ton of pace to run at, but at that price she is worth chancing despite the wide (very wide) berth.
Eagle to use the experience and headgear for win
Back Soaring Eagle @ 9/4 in the 15:50 at Lingfield
The draw Gods have been a little kinder to Simon and Ed Crisford's Soaring Eagle for the 15:50, and this looks an ideal opportunity for her to break her maiden tag.
She's only rated 70, and that puts the race into context and the danger is Roger Varian's Al Muzn who was beaten behind a promising type at Lingfield last time. However, Al Muzn ran over 6f on that occasion and I am not sure the drop to 5f will suit him as could get further.
Soaring Eagle came from too far back at Chelmsford last time and got caught in a poor position conceding ground, and with two handicap runs under her belt, she can make her know-how and experience count.
The tongue tie is on for the selection today, and the Crisford team are 16% and 47% win/place with the tongue tie, and it rises to 53% at Lingfield with the headgear placed.
