Lawn within handicapping range for another win

Back Lawn Ranger @ 16/5 in the 16:20 at Windsor

Four-time Windsor scorer Lawn Ranger has a 4lb penalty for winning at the track last week, and at 4/1, I fancy the hardy veteran to follow up at his favourite course.

Soft conditions will be facing the horses today by the river, but they won't faze the 8yo at all as he scored in heavy last time and easily beat Beryl Burton by nearly 3L from the front.

The official going was given as soft, but according to Timeform, the ground was heavy. Indeed, his trainer Michael Attwater said he'd improved for the return to the taxing surface.

Not many horses are in form for this, and Lawn Ranger is still well treated on his old form. Rab Havlin rides again, and considering he made the running a week ago, the same tactics will be most welcome.

Havlin is currently 10-45 at 22% in the last month and has a 16% record when he teams up with Attwater.

Meader won't miss this time

Back Mrs Meader @ 5/2 in the 16:55 at Windsor

Windsor is the full focus for the double today and we'll know our fate within the space of half an hour or 35 minutes - although with the times of races going off usually late, I would estimate 40 minutes.

Mrs Meader ran well to a point on her recent comeback for the season at Doncaster last time - shaping as if she needed the run over an inadequate 1m2f.

She's back over 1m4f today and has winning form on heavy ground - indeed, she produced an ultra-smooth performance to sign off her 2022 campaign with an easy win at Newbury over 1m4f.

With the way she travelled, there's more scope with her mark, and her trainer Julia Feilden has said the key to her is soft ground.

And while Rick Blaine is in the field, and named in honour of a character in one of my all-time favourite films, we'll always have Windsor on a Monday, and Mrs Meader can justify her market support this morning, as she was backed from 10/3 into 5/2.

I think she'll go well today under Dylan Hogan.
