3m to unlock more improvement in Paramaribo
Back Paramaribo @ 15/2 in the 13:30 at Ayr
Ayr passing their morning inspection was welcome news as there are plenty of runners on the west coast of Scotland for Friday and Paramaribo is a price for us to get involved with at 15/2 for the opener. Although we could have had 18 in the field had four not come out this morning as non runners.
Paramaribo had shown next to nothing in his first three starts over hurdles but offered something to work with on his handicap debut last time over 2m4f at Musselburgh.
A couple of scrappy jumps didn't help his cause and was also impeded down the home straight with Euchan Falls cutting across him.
However, he seemed to handle the soft conditions well on that occasion and he goes up another half a mile today, and it looks as though he will stay 3m.
Conditional Dylan Johnston rode him at Musselburgh and he keeps the ride with his 7lb claim with the horse's mark unchanged at 84.
This is also an Extra Place Special on the Sportsbook if you are looking for the four places at 15/2.
Russell and Wadge the golden duo
Back Without Conviction @ 4/1 in the 15:10 at Ayr
Trainer Lucinda Russell must have been beaming with the news this morning regarding the inspection as five of her last five runners sent out have all won, and Douglas Talking produced a lovely round of jumping at Sandown on Tuesday under young Patrick Wadge.
Indeed, Wadge features on the hot list too with 5-21 at 24% and gave a lovely interview following his winning ride down in Esher earlier this week.
Without Conviction is their horse for the 3m Handicap Chase and she has posted two reasonable efforts since wind surgery this season to make her interesting.
She got going too late over CD last time in not only a slightly better race, but on ground that was good to soft. Prince Dundee, her stablemate, was the winner and he's a thorough stayer so that was a decent effort.
The assessor has dropped her another 1lb and with conditions more suitable today (as I am hoping the ground goes testing), we should be in with a chance as she has won over 2m4f at Hexham in the past, and I do like Hexham staying form as I think it travels well.
