Trainer Lucinda Russell has a good number of chances today at Kelso

A 12/1 Sportsbook double for Alan Dudman on Wednesday is relying on Patrick Wadge and Lucinda Russell...

Keep faith in serial second Castletown

15:25 Kelso

Back Castletown @ 7/2

The excellent conditional Patrick Wadge gets the nomination today, and donning the famous green and yellow livery of Raymond Anderson Green can start the day in good fashion at Kelso.

Wadge has six booked rides today and has serious chances with four, and Castletown is hard to knock in terms of his consistency.

A record of 1-29 over fences lends itself far more to the frustrating side of things, and in that record he's collected 16 placed efforts.

He's sticking to hurdles again today and ran over the smaller obstacles last time at Ayr - once again (you guessed it), he finished second. He was matched at 1.558/15 in the run.

The grey didn't do a lot wrong in the race as he travelled well and made a sweeping move on the outside down the straight but was just worried out of it by Voix Du Reve - who just wanted it a little more. The pair were so far clear of the rest of the field, that I have to keep him onside for this.

He goes well at Kelso with his last five runs 22221.

Stamina is assured and he has form on the ground too, and I am sure his loyal fans will give him another chance to get his head in front, and Wadge can use some Agrippa-like cunning to smuggle him home.

Back Castletown in the 15:25 at Kelso

7/2

Newcomer takes the eye for Russell for bumper debut

17:35 Kelso

Back Indian Louis @ 15/8

A good day for Wadge and Lucinda Russell could mean a good day for me, and while I am a little frustrated the 5/2 has gone on newcomer Indian Louis, the 15/8 for the second leg is just about acceptable as Indian Louis will not have to be a world beater to win the closing bumper.

The 5yo landed a pair of point-to-point races before selling for £70,000 at the recent Cheltenham Sales, and Kelso is a good track for an introduction.

His dam was a winner up to 2m5f and Mahler is a good source of stamina for jumpers and with the majority of the field with experience hardly setting the clock on fire with their time figures, it's worth taking on a chance on a newcomer with the market support behind him.

Back Indian Louis in the 17:35 at Kelso

9/5

Shengai Enki is the second favourite and was also backed from 7s into 9/2 this morning, and drops in class, but Russell at 16% in the last four weeks sways me.
